8 décembre 2017 - IFALPA has been made aware that flight crews have no access to information indicating the time of transmission of uplinked CPDLC messages. The possibility of a delayed message cannot be ruled out which could lead to an old clearance being delivered past its validity time or to the wrong aircraft.

Bulletin de sécurité IFALPA : Caution on use of Runway Status Lights in the US

25 octobre 2017 - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) 17011 on September 28, 2017, to ensure that aircraft operators, pilots and airport personnel are aware of the installation, meaning and use of Runway Status Lights (RWSLs). RWSLs are fully automated systems of red lights that are designed to aid in preventing runway incursions and ground collisions. The RWSL system integrates airport lighting equipment with approach and surface surveillance radar systems to provide aircraft and vehicle crews a visual cue indicating when it is unsafe to enter/cross or begin/continue takeoff on the runway.

Bulletin de sécurité IFALPA : Runway Incursions at Toronto Airport

30 août 2017 - The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada issued Aviation Safety Advisory A17O0038-D1-A1 to alert flight crews of the potential for a runway incursion to occur while operating at the Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ) airport. The TSB is conducting a Safety Issues Investigation (SII) that focuses on runway incursions. Since March 2017, there have been several runway incursions involving U.S. air carriers.

Bulletin de sécurité IFALPA : Operations at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport (ESSA/ARN)

18 août 2017 - IFALPA has been made aware of recurring drone issues affecting operations at Stockholm-Arlanda (ESSA/ARN) to the extent that the airport had to be closed on several occasions. On the 7th of August, Stockholm-Arlanda was closed for about an hour due to drones being flown within the airport’s Control Zone. Two Maydays were declared and several aircraft were diverted. On the 15th of August, the airport was closed again with a Mayday call and diversions.
