Today the Council of the EU adopted the signature of the comprehensive air transport agreement between the European Union and the State of Qatar. Now that the agreement is signed, Europeans for Fair Competition (E4FC) would like to point out that the parties will need to deliver on the comprehensive fair competition provision, which includes commitments on transparency and allows for safeguard measures in case of breach. The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) and the European Cockpit Association (ECA) fully share the concerns expressed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the forced landing of Ryanair Flight 4978 in Minsk, Belarus, on 23 May. Press Release SNPL: Let’s not play with flight safety! SNPL France ALPA do not support the development of Single-pilot Operations (SPO)
SNPL France ALPA, one of whom’s main missions is to maintain and to increase air transport safety, is opposed to the implementation of Single-pilot Operations as suggested by the Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In an interview on 20 January 2021, Patrick Ky, EASA Executive Director, told FlightGlobal that, regarding Single-pilot Operations (flight with only one pilot flying), he believes "this could be implemented quite soon, typically for phases of the flight when you don’t necessarily need two pilots in the cockpit". These words challenge us as much by the discrepancy they reveal between the field reality and the European decision-making spheres, as well as the technological beliefs they peddle (...)

27 janvier 2021 - Re-certification introduces better training requirements for MAX pilots The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is clearing the Boeing 737 MAX to fly after nearly 2-year grounding. The Airworthiness Directive issued today concludes a meaningful and thorough Boeing 737 MAX Return To Service (RTS) process. While trust and confidence were severely undermined at the start of the recertification, the involvement of other parties – such as EASA and pilots – as well as the increased scrutiny from EU decision-makers has resulted in a more transparent and reassuring process.
